PROGRAMS
COVER ME
Created to Serve has been working with the Jackson Public School District Homeless Program for many years. In addition to providing school uniforms, school supplies, backpacks, and personal care items, we are the only organization to provide personal garments such as socks, which are much-needed items.
LIVING/SOCIAL SKILLS
Created to Serve is closely affiliated with a local shelter for the homeless. In addition to assisting with immediate needs, we also help with Independent Living and social skills. We have also provided job sustainability through training materials to aid resume writing.
MENTORING PROGRAM
Created to Serve operates a mentoring program titled "These are our Children."
This program is close to the downtown area. We work with children from middle- school through high school. We engage the children by discussing relevant topics and participating in topic-related activities.
SPECIAL SERVICES
We also assist other local organizations upon request or when we can fill a gap in service. Annually, we contribute to the Hair Fund at Sunnybrook Children's Home and have provided personal care items to other shelters. We have also assisted with a project consisting of collecting and stuffing purses with personal care items for another shelter. We have also provided school supplies to the Jumpstart event sponsored through the Jackson Medical Mall.
